What is email archiving?

Email archiving is a process in which e-mails are stored permanently in order to be able to recover them quickly in the event of data loss and to be retained for legally required retention periods. This process is important in today's world, as most businesses rely on email as their primary means of communication. Email archiving can be done manually or automatically, but must meet the legal requirements of the GDPR and GoBD. Some email clients, such as Outlook, offer tools for securing e-mails, but these only partially comply with legal regulations.

Email archiving in the cloud is also an option where the emails are stored in off-site secure storage. With this option, organizations can ensure their email remains secure and accessible even after a system failure. Email archiving is an essential part of better business continuity.
