Uninstall / Update not possible

When you try to update or uninstall, you receive an error message that the process is not possible, or the process aborts. To solve this problem, proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to the installation directory of ActiveImage Protector: C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Protector\ (the path may differ slightly at the end depending on the used edition and instead of "NetJapan" newer versions use "Actiphy").
  2. Rename the folder "ActiveImage Protector" into "ActiveImage Protector_old".
  3. Then start the Windows Registry Editor "regedit".
  4. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
  5. Select the "Uninstall" folder and then click Windows Registry Editor on "Edit" > "Search" and type "ActiveImage Protector".
  6. A key is then found e.g. 665E5ABB-3CAE-4FDD-9CF3-B1A2CDA88C32 this value may vary with each edition/version.
  7. This key with "ActiveImage Protector" as content must be deleted.
  8. Afterwards you can reinstall the software and delete the old folder "ActiveImage Protector_old" after the system restart.

If the solution shown above did not help, check the next points:

  1. Navigate to Windows Services and check if the entry "ActiveImage Protector Service" is still there. If the entry is present, start the Windows command prompt as administrator and enter the following command: sc delete AipService
  2. Then navigate to the path "C:\ProgramData\Package Cache". Check there whether ActiveImage Protector setup files still exist. These 2 possible setup files can then be deleted if they still exist: "BundleSetup.exe" and/or "AipInstaller.msi".
  3. Also clean the temporary folders of the system by deleting their entire contents. These include: "C:\Windows\Temp" and "C:\Users\<your user>\AppData\Local\Temp".
