Error message "...msvcp120.dll is missing..." or "...msvcr120.dll is missing..." when starting the graphical console

This error is a problem with the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages. To solve this, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the ActiveImage Protector installation folder (default) C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Protector\ (the path may differ slightly at the end depending on the edition).
  2. Run the applications "vcredist_x86.exe", "vcredist_x64.exe" and "vcredist_x64_2008SP1.exe".
  3. Either a dialog box appears where you can perform an installation or a repair installation.
  4. In most cases a system reboot is required at the end.
  5. If the problem persists, check the error messages from the Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable log files that are available at the end of the setup.

  1. Please check this first under Windows services if the service ("ActiveImage Protector Service" and "ActiveImage Protector Notification Service") are started. If the services are set to "Manual" please change it to "Automatic" and start them.
  2. Last step modify your existing backup job and go to "Advanced Options" and disable "Make backup image file P2V ready" and save the job.

If the problem persists, do the following:

  1. Check that the service "AipService" is also running, if the service is already running restart the service once.
  2. Navigate to the ActiveImage Protector installation folder (default) C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Protector\ (other editions have different folder names) and open the file "aip.ini" look for the line RemotePort= make sure that the value 48236 is entered, if not add this line RemotePort=48236 under the section [Network]. After this change restart service "AipService" once.

Error message "AIProtector.exe has terminated" when starting the graphical console

  1. Navigate to the ActiveImage Protector installation folder (default) C:\Program Files (x86)\NetJapan\ActiveImage Protector\ (other editions have different folder names) and check in the subfolders "Profiles" and "Schedules" that only *.ini, *.txt or *.xml files exist, other file extensions are not supported and must be removed.
  2. If all file extensions are correct, check that all files are completely readable, e.g. if you open a file and see only empty contents, this file is damaged and must be removed. Note that if you remove a task file e.g. in the "Profiles" folder, the corresponding file(s) in the "Schedules" folder must also be removed (or vice versa), as they are always related.
