ActiveImage Protector 2022 | General information

• What do you have to consider with regard to the update?
  1. You will be requested to enter the product key for Version 2022. Upgrading to 2022 is allowed only from Version 5.1.11.6326 and newer.
  
  
  2. During the upgrade process, when you cancel the upgrade process, the product is uninstalled.
  
  
  3. ActiveImage Protector 2022 does not support BootCheck task for Windows 10 x64 using Hyper-V configured on other computer. If this task is migrated to ActiveImage Protector 2022, the task will fail in error.
  
  
  4. When a schedule is configured with enabled Post-backup Process tasks (BootCheck, Verify, Sonsolidation, Replication), please edit and update the schedule or reconfigure the schedule settings after upgrading to ActiveImage Protector 2022.
  
  
  5. After the update, a new backup chain must be created because it is technically not possible to continue the old chain.
  
  
  6. Older backup images from previous versions can be used for recovery. A downward compatibility is given.
  7. After the update, the 2018 licenses automatically become invalid and only the new 2022 license can be used.
• How do I get a new license key for the update?

  Before starting with the technical part of the upgrade, it is necessary to request a new serial key valid to activate AIP 2022.

  1. Go to the Partner Portal.

  2. Enter your login and search for the license to upgrade

  3. Click on the Upgrade button on the right side of the Renew maintenance button.

• Can I update my older version of ActiveImage Protector?

  1. To upgrade the existing installation, the minimum version 5.1.11.6326 is required. Otherwise, you need to update the AIP 2018 installation to the mentioned version or uninstall the current version and install the new ActiveImage Protector 2022 version.

  2. Start the setup as administrator.

  3. Enter your new license key and click install / update.
  4. If you want to install other components e.g. the boot environment, please select the specific one under “install other components”. Only the marked component will be installed.
  5. All settings and backup jobs are retained during the update procedure. 
  6. When a schedule is configured with enabled Post-backup Process tasks, please edit and update the schedule or reconfigure the schedule settings after upgrading to ActiveImage Protector 2022.

• Will ImageCenter work with the new version?

  Yes, ImageCenter is compatible with both the current ActiveImage Protector version 2022 and version 2018.

• Why do post-backup processes fail after update?

  If you receive the message "-409" or "Older image, not support quick verify Level = ERROR[0]" after updating to ActiveImage Protector Version 2022 and retention policies are not working, a new backup chain has not yet been created. Start a fresh full backup as it is technically not possible to continue the old chain.

  Note: This only affects the post-backup processes. Older formats can be restored with downward compatibility.

• Why can't I change the file name anymore?

  The file names are fixed and based on the task and image ID and cannot be changed. This setting was integrated to fix problems caused by Windows (Windows disk numbering changed after update or BIOS update > backup volume changed, which has many negative effects).

  
  Windows Explorer and the name of the file or folder need not be known, since the image is listed directly with the host name in ActiveImage Protector. It is enough to select the main folder from the backup storage path. The subfolders and their content are recognized automatically.
